Sometimes you just need your toes to match the green spring grass. For the helluva it. And sometimes they need to dip into a pool – even if it’s not quiiiiite ready for swimming.

And sometimes you realize how badly you need a tan or some good sunless tanning lotion.

Long time readers of outsidevoice know it is not really Spring until the toe ring appears. Doesn’t matter what the calendar says – the ring calls it. Every year.

Today, to celebrate Spring and Spring Break with Leah we went to get our nails done. My toes are sporting OPI’s “Espresso Your Style” – a terrific chocolatety brown with subtle flecks of gold.

What about you? What do you have that officially signals Spring?

I’d been seeing a ton of write-ups on the new fall trends around grey polish and, well, it kinda scared me. There were some versions of the grey spectrum that just kind of looked sickly to me, but then I found Essie’s “Over the Top” and loved the charcoal hue. I think when you have pale skin it can be hard to wear pale colors – or maybe that’s just my own paranoia and preference talking.
