The holiday season is so celebratory. All of our gauzy fabrics have given away to ones a bit more substantial, woven with metallic threads or full of sequins’ sparkle. I love the look of a champagne colored earring that captures the fall sunset, the warm of a candle and hint of the celebration yet to come. Even if that celebration is the fact that I’ve washed and dried my hair before carpool.

I know what you’re thinking. Burlap = itchy. Think again. This formerly pedestrian fabric has been re-invented to dress the most elegant of homes. I love that it’s a neutral that still gives a hint of texture. In various weights it gives good drape and I LOVE the silkscreening that can be done on it.

I am a big advocate of adding the whimsical and unexpected to a room – and this is an inexpensive and easy way to do it.

You know, there are times when a room just needs a kick in the ass. I cannot think of a better way to do that than through some truly hysterical pillows. I can think of a few of these from Alexandra Ferguson’s etsy shop that I would have LOVED to have had in my room in college — and a few I’m definitely considering for my home these days. I will readily admit I am a complete accessories whore. And, for better or for worse, etsy feeds that inner beast in demonic, wicked, fabulous ways.

It’s like unwrapping a little piece of jewelry from a cupcake. It’s that cute. I don’t want to throw this away. I want to wear my trinket and display the wrappings for all to see because it is that girly and cute.

Oh, you wanna see what I bought? Of course you do – because there’s a little accessory whore in everyone dying to come out.

It is FANTASTIC. It is the best relatively small amount of money I have spent in a long time and I love it so very much. I am already trying to figure out where I can wear this piece de resistance. Quick! Someone take me to a cool restaurant so I can blind the waitstaff. Or stab a patron. Or wave my hand about in a flourish in a totally obnoxious way.
