Things That Are Awesome

Helping Leah with her 7th grade science test prep tonight was all about mammals and birds. You know what? I know shit. We talked about circulatory systems, and respiratory systems, and aerodynamics, and amniotic eggs, and calcium carbonate and I KNEW THINGS. I may not be smarter than a 5th grader in history, but STEP BACK, JACK in science. Science, I got. That felt good – and reviewing with her was fun.

After procrastinating for, well, months, I have all outfits for Leah’s weekend done and settled and I’m really happy with them. For all of you who have sent sweet notes about her upcoming life cycle event – thank you. There is a neat opportunity I will share with you shortly – and it makes me glad we live in the times that we do. Stay tuned!

Part of preparing to build yourself a new tent, is getting things in order. I’m starting with my physical self – and I cannot WAIT to get back to the place I love to get my ass kicked and, well, get sore for all the right reasons. I’ve never told you about it, but it’s an amazing, surprising place. More to come – I think you’ll like it.

But, before I head back to Ass-Kicking-USA, tomorrow it’s more shots – some for pain, but also because I need to be in heels in two-and-half-weeks. So, partly therapeutic with a healthy dose of vanity. Sue me.

I haven’t hugged my best friend (who lives in Chicago) in years. Too many years. I get to do that in fifteen days. I. Cannot. Wait.

Tell me something awesome in your world. I’ll get the wine.

Husband talks to his 90yo grandmother several times a week. Tonight, she spent 20 minutes reminiscing about the Conference of Yalta. Where she was, what she was doing, the kind of apple she was eating, the last time she was in Ukraine, etcetera etcetera etcetera.

Woman has had an amazing life.

I spent yesterday with my beautiful and awesome sister. I think you know her. Shopping, breakfast planning, lunch and more shopping. A great time was had by all. I have all my outfits too.
