Getting Back to Life – and a Painkiller Cocktail

I just got back from a few days at the beach. It was the first “away” time in probably more than six months – and the most activity I’ve done in about the same amount of time.

(And by “activity”, I mean being in an actual pool, walking on a beach, sitting in an occasional restaurant and napping like it was MY JOB.  All mostly without pain!)

It was the first time in months I haven’t felt stressed. Like, viscerally, all encompassing stressed – and it was glorious.  I was THISCLOSE to pulling a Veruca Salt temper tantrum about leaving yesterday because I wanted to stay so badly. Sometimes being an adult is stupid.

We had to come home last night due to some scheduling issues, but the plan is to move life back down to the beach for the next week starting tomorrow morning. Have laptop, have cell phone, have mobile office.  (Also have ocean view.)

The rest involves some vegetables which aren’t nearly as interesting, but I’ll share that soon.

What is a Painkiller you ask?  It looks like this:

But it tastes like THIS:

And here is how you make it:

1. Fill a glass with ice.

2. Add 2, 3 or 4 oz of Pusser’s Rum or Malibu Rum

3. Add 4 parts pineapple juice, 1 part cream of coconut (Coco Lopez) and 1 part orange juice

4. Mix well.

5. (Optional) Grate a little fresh nutmeg on top. (Do it.)

6. Garnish with anything tropical.

 

Alternate option: Have a cabana boy bring it to you. Either way? Total win.
