After two years of teeth gnashing and hand wringing (seriously, two years), Husband and I redid our estate plan and the difficult decisions around what would happen to Leah and Benjamin if, G-d forbid, both of us were suddenly gone.
It was a long, long, painful discussion.
But what it brought to light were some other things. Among all the discussions around how we would want the kids raised and what kind of life we’d like for them to have were the small things that become big. How would Leah ever know my advice on handling boys – then men? Would Benjamin remember enough to be able to tell HIS kids about us? How do you encapsule a past? A present? A LIFE?
A few weeks ago I was approached by LiveOn through the Clever Girls Collective to hear more about what they were doing. The timing could not have been more perfect.
LiveOn serves as a living, breathing, interactive vault for all of your pictures, your milestones, your memories – all for your family – now and in the future. Different from Facebook (which it integrates with for pictures), this is a sophisticated and PRIVATE site geared only for your family. You can “narrate” your memories – or you can hand the gavel to someone else to provide input and content.
I will tell you my MOST favorite feature, though: the Time Capsule. Imagine being able to create a digital folder or presentation of all of your son’s or daughter’s milestones – in pictures and text and video – that you have collected all her life and have it automatically sent to her to open on her college graduation? Or wedding day?
Here’s another idea: What if you have adopted a little one and want to do the same for the child – but also send it to the birthparents for them to see how everyone has done through the years? You define the content, you define the trigger for when it gets sent – and LiveOn creates the lovely, professional-grade video presentation of all of your content.
There are just so many uses for that one piece of functionality – and that’s just the surface.
Oh, and you know all those boxes or albums of pictures you have laying around? You can send them all of that and they will scan them in for you. THAT is just downright magical in my book. That’s LiveOn Rewind.
Also? They promise not only to keep your content secure – but available forever. Not 10 years, or 100 years, or “as long as they’re in business”, but forever. Even if media storage formats change. No matter what. And if you want a copy of all your memories? They’ll get you a DVD of them in hard copy – no problem.
There is SO much more to tell you — but for now I’d love for you guys to take a look for yourself. I’m extraordinarily impressed – and I think you will be, too. I’ll talk more about this in some future posts – I’m starting to build out my timeline now (see image above), but head over to LiveOn to see more and get a taste. I believe you’ll be as impressed as I am.
Already hooked? I’m not surprised. But I do have a special coupon code for you guys to take advantage of the LiveOn Rewind – the picture scanning/organizing service. Use cgc69 for 20% off that service – thanks, LiveOn!
I can see this is going to be really, really special.
Thank you to LiveOn for this sponsored opportunity to blog about storing and sharing my most important memories with those closest to me. Although story ideas were provided, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
