We’ve talked before about my love for Inspiration Boards and how helpful they can be. Well, the folks at Pinterest have taken this idea and jacked it up with steroids and slammed a jet engine on this idea.
Simply put, Pinterest allows you to “pin” images you come across on the internet to “Boards” of your creation. And, like any good social network, you can follow other people’s boards and they can follow yours. Most interesting of all is that you can “repin” images of others to your own boards and add comments or “likes” to the images as well.
The topics are limitless – as you create your own. I’ve got boards for Style, Food, Packaging and more. The image at the top of this post is my “Doors” board because I am a little obsessed with them. I don’t know why, but I am.
Here is something to think about. I hear comments all the time about “I don’t know what my style is.” Well, after you start pinning images to a style board, you can see really clearly what you like. You can see your style reflected right in front of you.
Thinking of updating the kitchen but not sure what you want to do? Take a look at what you keep pinning. You may say you don’t want white cabinets, but all your images may say something different…
Does this keep me from collecting magazines and pulling out the scissors? Not really. But Pinterest is a lot less messy and collects a lot less dust. Plus I get to instantly share with friends and “ooh” and “ahh” all over things. On certain days it is my quiet time and visual therapy.
Want to join the party? I have six (6) invites to hand out! First six folks that request an invite get ’em! Just leave a comment below.
