Spring Hair Inspiration

April 13, 2011

Spring hairstyles loose short waves texture

Recently, after 10 years of having longer hair than I’ve ever had in my life, I decided to chop off five inches of length and about ten pounds of weight on my head. It was really a rash move as a result of being in the house so much with sick and injured folk, but the mood struck when I sat in my stylist’s chair and there it was. All on the floor.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t pleased with my rash decision for a week or so afterwards, but I think I just needed to adjust to the drastic change I THOUGHT I had wanted. Turns out I love it and I find myself looking at images more and more of shorter, looser, more texturized hair.

Maybe it’s the spring or maybe it’s just an overall loosening up of my mind – but I find myself relaxing into my short ‘do and being more willing to let it just sort of go… whatever that might look like.

Design Mom had these pictures of Nine d’Urso who just happens to be the daughter of Ines de Fressange, author of Parisian Chic: A Style Guide I talked about not so long ago. My new haircut is quite similar and seeing it on this impossibly chic woman solidified that I want to embrace this new look even more.

How about you? Ready for a drastic change to your hair? What styles or looks are inspiring you these days?

I’m not ready to go that short again…the last time I did I was much heavier than I am now and it just made my whole head look rounder. But I am in desperate need of a cut and I just don’t trust anyone with my girls.

I’ve been wanting a new haircut for weeks now. I won’t do anything too drastic (only because my hair is so stick straight, it doesn’t actually lend itself to many styles), but I need to chop it. Maybe I’ll do bangs.

I would like a hair change. I would like some. Maybe by the time we finally make it to NYC I’ll have plenty and then I’ll need a new do.
