Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia – The Joy of Discovery

Jo Malone Perfume

I have been searching for a new fragrance. It’s a challenge because of allergies and asthma and living somewhere that has 178 million percent humidity measurements, but still, a girl’s gotta have a scent. And not just any scent. I have boundaries when it comes to fragrance. Nothing cloyingly floral or sweet, nothing musky or powdery. I like fresh out of the shower smells.

While on vacation in Las Vegas (hi!), Husband and I were walking around the Wynn hotel (stunning) and their magnificent boutiques. Across from the Oscar de la Renta shop (OMG) was Jo Malone. I may or may not have squeed in delight. There are only a handful of actual Jo Malone boutiques across the country and I found one.

I’m late to the Jo Malone game I know. She is well known for not only her fragrances, but her skin care products as well. I have to tell you – I am so in love with this new English Pear and Freesia scent. It is bright and clean and fresh and only slightly floral. It’s fresh out of the shower as if you had showered in an english garden with rain water. It wears terrifically and its subtlety will hold up well in the Houston humidity and summer attack.

The fragrances are designed to be layered – or mixed – like cocktails. Husband picked up a men’s scent of Amber and Lavender and there is a complimentary fragrance we both can use for an added dimension in different seasons.

If you haven’t already, you should head to your nearest boutique or Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus to explore the world of Jo Malone. Really. These are unbelievable fragrances and I am willing to bet there is at LEAST one that suits you.

Are you picky with your scents, too? And are you a Jo Malone fan already?

My personal favorite light fragrance is Bulgari Eau The Blanc, which is actually one of their uni-sex options. I discovered at the Ritz-Carlton Maui and may have raided the housekeeping cart a little.

Also enjoy Prada Infusion d’Iris for something a little more whimsical and romantic.

Surprisingly, these are two of three fragrances that don’t evaporate from me almost immediately. Nothing sticks to me, it seems, so when I find one that’ll last most of the day – I buy it!

(The other option is Ralph Lauren Blue, which is salty and sunny and beachy. Another fave.)
