[Y]ou know that old piece of wisdom that says, “Never grocery shop hungry”? Sometimes it is WRONG.

I spend a lot of time in grocery stores. Partly because I’m unorganized, but also because I really like perusing the aisles, examining the produce, talking to the fish monger and generally loitering among the food. It’s inspirational.

One day I was at Whole Foods and had just turned the corner into the cheese and olive bar section when I saw a small display table full of Vosges products. Front and center was the box of their Caramel Toffee Chocolate Chunk Brownie mix. The rest of the shopping excursion was a blur. I’m fairly sure I blacked out.

OF COURSE I was buying those to try.

I’m not usually a “mix” kind of girl for serious baking efforts, but this was interesting – and organic. It was also $17.00. Now, I’m a big fan of Vosges other products like their Mo’s Milk Chocolate Bacon Bar (not kidding) and their Red Fire Exotic Candy Bar which is like a bite of fantastic Mexican mole in a bar. So I had high hopes for this brownie mix.

I was not disappointed.

A few things you should know:

    1. Preparation for these brownies is not like a typical processed food mix. You will need to melt butter and the included sugar together and stir lovingly in a skillet for several minutes. Upside? Your kitchen smells like butter and sugar.

    2. There are a few extra steps here and there to acheive maximum ooeygooeyness. Don’t rush any of this. You will handsomely rewarded. Promise.

    3. Follow the timing correctly. I baked my brownies for exactly 20 minutes (the lesser of the recommended range because you cannot undo overcooked anything) – and they were perfect.

These are unreal – and ridiculously rich. They are perfect to bring over for a dinner party or to serve at any event. Given the cost and richness of the brownies, I’d skip bringing these to the school Valentine’s Day party, but be sure to include them on your menu for later that night with your significant other. In tub. With strawberries. And champagne.

(Trust me on this.)

Hungry? Good! Just because I love you and believe everyone should eat luxuriously and organically I am going to give away a small bunch of Vosges products for you to try and fall madly in love with. I’m not in cahoots with Vosges in any way — I just really love their stuff and felt like sharing.

You’re welcome.

Included in this package are the following. Squeeing loudly is allowed and encouraged.

    Little known fact…. hmmmmmm….

I hate having the “Happy Birthday” song sung to me… not because of the implications of getting older, but I just hate being the center of attention for ANYTHING. I also don’t like opening gifts in front of other people, and cried through my entire wedding because of “stage fright”

  2. Julie Baker Says:

OMG! I’m drooling over your article and the pics! I’m ashamed to admit that as much as I LOVE chocolate, I have yet to try the chocolate/bacon combo.

Little known fact about me: I used to believe (thanks to my dad) that “daddy long-leg” spiders could only bite you on the edge of your belly button.

  3. Danielle (elleinadspir) Says:

I love Vosges! These look amazing! Little known fact huh? Um….my arms fall asleep about 5 times a night. I wake up to that dead arm tingly feeling. Very annoying. I think chocolate might cure it 😉

  4. June Says:

I would much rather go to yard sales with my husband than go to the mall. I love the surprises and the treasure hunting.

  5. Marcela Flores Says:

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE chocolate! Life is not the same without it. Needless to say, Vosges is my PRIMARY choice!!! Little known fact? I love weird concoctions like pancakes with cheese! Yes, I know, but sweet and savory together? THE BEST!

  6. Hope Says:

one of my snacks in my desk drawer at the office is not kosher. (i can’t find kosher raw unsalted cashews!)

ps-last time you tempted us with Vosges, I sprinted to Whole Foods on Wilcrest and didn’t find them…I’ll try Sugar Land.

  7. Eileenie Weenie Says:

Oh my G-d. Mo’s Bacon Bar is the best!
Little known fact: I threw myself a “Hysterical Hysterectomy Party” the week before I had all that shit yanked the hell out. I was 30. I gave away most of my tampons as party gifts (the others, G-d forgive me, were put in one of my menorahs and lit. the strings don’t burn well) and served penis-shaped jello shots.

  8. Laree @ Ever Heard of Euless Says:

    I’m intrigued!

Little known fact: I was bald in 3rd grade. I had an unfortunate run in with a small cement mixer, which ripped 2/3 the hair out of my head. I got to wear hats to school every day until summer break!

  9. Knighton Says:

Love Vosges! The white chocolate-pink peppercorn combo is out of this world.

Ok, little known fact: When I was five, my beauty-school Aunt Katy pierced my ears. She marked the holes by using a ruler and placing each hole even with the bottom of my nose. Never mind the fact that my ears are uneven, resulting in piercings which are not in the same place of the lobe. My earrings hang perfectly parallel, though from different places on each ear. Odd.

  10. yasmara Says:

oh YUM!!! Little known fact – I’ve never been to California!

  11. stephanie Says:

Oh, those look delicious! (Well, except that I don’t eat bacon, but I’m sure my husband would take one for the team.)

Little known fact about me: I was born in Louisiana. It’s not all that unusual a fact, but it’s just that I just grew up in NY and have never been back to Louisiana since we moved when I was a baby, so it seems really odd to see it written on my passport.

  12. Kristy Says:

Wow, these look and sound amazing! One little fact, I have never had bacon and chocolate together! :)

  13. Claire Says:

I STILL play pokemon video games! LOL

  14. Amber, theAmberShow Says:

These look amazing. I normally don’t enter friend’s giveaways! There’s your little-known, slightly meta fact 😉

  15. Darcy Says:

Even though I’m an adult, I still wish I could go Easter Egg hunting. It’s so much fun!

  16. Laura J Says:

My family had a peacock growing up. I think peacock feathers are massively overpriced. The bird molted it’s whole tail at least once a year, so we used the feathers for decorations, and for cat toys there were so many of them.

  17. Kari VanNoy Says:

I would love to try this!

Little known fact: I cannot change the channel when an infommercial is on tv…I get hooked! This may be the reason my husband gets full control of the channel changer when he’s home!!

  18. Sarah Says:

They all look so yum! The bacon and chocolate combination sounds very interesting!

One fact about me, depending on what I write with, a pen, pencil, fountainhead pen, sharpie,… I have a completely different handwriting!

  19. Allie Clark Says:

I am obsessed with game shows!
