GIVEAWAY! NEST Fragrance Candles – and the Power of Scent

March 21, 2011

NEST Fragrance Candles Home

There are these moments – ones that catch you by surprise — unprepared and unguarded while mindlessly going about your day.  Your head full of lists and “oh, yeahs” and the mundane and what IS that song I heard in the background at the store the other day when suddenly a scent lilts.  A hint of a piece of a memory from days past that hadn’t seen the light of your mind’s eye in YEARS and all of a sudden it is as real as if it happened yesterday.

… A drifting breeze of fragrance bringing you back to that place where you first met, the house where you grew up, that camping trip, your grandfather’s embrace…

It’s uncanny what power a scent has.  In a split second a simple hint of a fragrance can transport you, unlock overwhelming memories and influence a reaction, create a decision.  Our sense of smell is handled by the same part of the brain that also handles emotion and memory – all permanently and intimately linked.

I’ve long believed that the elements in your home should be purchased and placed with great thought and intent.  This is especially true with candles – or any sort of fragrance.  It should complement or enhance your lifestyle or entertaining.  It should enrich and luxuriate, or clarify and motivate, but never, ever overpower.

They should also be beautiful.  You deserve that.

NEST Fragrances has developed just such a candle.  I’m smitten with their line of fragrances, their sophistication, commitment to luxury and their thoughtful combination of scent and style.  Sold in Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and other discriminating boutiques around the world NEST Fragrances is, quite simply, elegance and memory at the end of a flame.

I think you’ll love them, too.

So how about we give some of these jewels away?

TWO lucky winners will receive their choice of TWO NEST Fragrances Everyday Collection candles.  The combinations are ENDLESS! Perhaps a his/hers set? Ohhh, the possibilities…

  2. Sarah Says:

The scent that reminds me of home is fresh baked bread and pastries (we own a bakery).

I would choose Mahogany and Moss and Mint.

    Liked both pages 🙂

There is just nothing like fresh baked bread or pastries. I cannot imagine owning a bakery! YUM! (OR… you get sick of it all?) Thanks!

  3. allison Says:

Hmmm…Home smells like Jergen’s lotion (the cherry scented one) and Chanel Number 5. Favorite scents are Orange Blossom and Bamboo which remind me of our wedding. Liked both pages!

    • pamlewis Says:

Those are really distinct scents… do they even make the Jergen’s cherry any longer?!

  4. elz Says:

The smell of BBQ?! Ha ha. Probably Johnson & Johnson Shampoo because it reminds me of my kids.
I’d probably go for Bamboo and Moss & Mint.

    • pamlewis Says:

Awww – that J&J shampoo really is a distinctive “family” smell, isn’t it?

      And BBQ totally fits. TOTALLY.

  5. Elizabeth Says:

When I think of a scent as a child I think of Obsession by Calvin Klein. My stepmother wore it ALL the time. (I don’t like it on anyone else.) It reminds me of shopping at Sakowitz for dresses, trying on her high heels in her closet and slipping on her jewelry (which I think were twisty beads).

I would choose Wild Oats & Bourbon, makes me think of my daddy, and Perwinkle Hyacinth since I love a light floral scent.

    • pamlewis Says:

SAKOWITZ! Now THERE’S a Tuesday reference. So great –

CK Obsession always reminds me of the MALE version – I knew very few women who wore it. Interesting!

  6. Amy Says:

The smell of good cooking vanilla & almond flavoring reminds me of home. My mom was an excellent cook and prepared wedding cakes. Her cakes were not only beautiful but delicious, scents as well as music bring back many memories for me.

I would probably choose Black Fig & Honey and Wasabi Pear, but would definitely smell them all before choosing. I am always burning candles in my home.
