To ArtsyDaughter on Graduation Day

November 9, 2010

BLOG, FAMILY

Dear ArtsyDaughter,

Today you graduated from the Aveda Institute. Today you ceremonially marked a year’s worth of hard work and sacrifice and learning. Today you can look back at the road you are traveling on and be proud of the feet and heart that got you here.

It’s been quite a road, hasn’t it? Along the way a lot has happened. Along the way you have begun to discover who you are and who you are not. You have discovered what you can and will do – and also what you will not. You have found a profession that lends itself to your creativity, artistic skills and connection to people.

Our family has a special connection to the song “Lechi Lach” – the story from Genesis about the journey on which G-d sends Abraham. “…On your journey I will bless you… And you shall be a blessing, lechi lach.” But everyone’s journey is their own – as you have learned. And you shall be a blessing. You always have been.

You are in the right place. I’m not sure five years ago I could have written that sentence, but the past five years have given you experiences and lessons and the maturity to take on this challenge and succeed.

I am proud of you. You have the skills and the heart and the talent to enjoy not only a profession, but an adventure – and with heels on, shoulders back and a smile you will excel. You will make the world as beautiful as you are – inside and out.

Congratulations — xoxo

Love
Pam
