Aveda Brilliant Damage Control

Earlier today, my youngest stepdaughter, affectionately known in the blogosphere as ArtsyDaughter, graduated from the Aveda Institute and is about to join the beauty industry ranks as a stylist/colorist. Having just gone through extensive education and practicums in school, she has the latest and greatest knowledge and tips on current Aveda products – and I asked for her top pick in terms of a “must have” hair product.

Her pick: Brilliant Damage Control

Now, I am a big fan of another product in the Brilliant arsenal, the Brilliant Spray on Shine. For those of us with coarse hair, it is a damn miracle product in acheiving the soft, silky locks of magazine ads.

ArtsyDaughter recommends adding the Damage Control product for several reasons. “Use it when you get out of the shower and it will help protect your hair from UV and heat rays. It helps maintain that nice, healthy sheen and prevents breakage. Spray it on damp hair and you can blow dry or not, it will keep your hair nice and smooth and healthy.”

I am not a fan of any product that makes your hair look or feel like it has product in it, and as someone who applies heat equivalent to the surface of the sun to my hair, I can absolutely co-sign that statement and the need for protection. I speak for the coarse- and curly-haired girls, but the Brilliant line really does work for all hair types.

Put it on your shopping or holiday list because ArtsyDaughter said so. She’s one smart cookie.
