Fundraising Dinner: OOTD

OUTFIT OF THE DAY, STYLE

Mother of Pearl Necklace

Last night was a fundraising dinner for a private school that was honoring a dear man and family friend. I went through many iterations of outfits from J. Crew inspired-ecclectic to on-trend dress shorts to classic New York elegance. For a few I had what I needed in my collection, a few I needed some key pieces to pull off but quite simply had no time to go shop for it. As of 2pm yesterday I was frustrated and slightly uninspired.

Then I decided to let the jewelry build the outfit. This is one of my favorite pieces. The sunshine doesn’t do it justice, but I was pressed for time to get pictures taken (by my nine year old, no less). It’s mother of pearl built on a pyramid of mesh behind it. In recessed and evening lighting it just GLOWS and I knew this was the piece I wanted to wear.

The rest was easy – mixed and matched neutrals, a shimmery wrap, killer heels and red lips. Desired effect? Acheived.

Sweater: Rickie Freeman for Teri Jon (10 yrs old and I still love it)

Necklace: Net-a-Porter (I can’t remember the designer! A gift from 5 yrs ago)
