It’s called the O.R.B.™ (Orbital Ring Band) Wireless Earpiece Finger Ring from Hybra Advance Technology and this is officially on my radar screen for late 2010.

Here’s the deal: It’s a ring. It’s also a waterproof, wireless earpiece that works with your smartphone.

When a call comes in you want to answer, the ring twists into a sleek and funky-looking headset that fits on your ear for hands-free communication. As a wireless headset, it works up to 30 feet away from your phone.

As a ring it will also show you text messages and calendar reminders on its tiny screen that wraps around your finger which vibrates to let you know about an incoming call or message. Don’t ask me how you type on this thing – but I can’t wait to see it.

It also has an e-ink display with caller ID. Using wireless technology it will show you the name and/or number of the person calling you. You can decide whether to answer the call or go back to your glass of pinot.

When you’re done, just twist the headset back to the ring shape and slip it on your finger. Tres chic – tres Star Trek.
The O.R.B. will be available 4th Quarter 2010 for $129 (US), while a deluxe edition — with a full-color FOLED (Flexible Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen — will sell for about $175 (US). There are four sizes available (S,M,L,XL) for both men and women.
