We Beached, Yo

July 2, 2007

BLOG, FAMILY

Well, we’re back and a good time was held by all. We survived shoving 4 adults, a six-year old and an 11-month old into a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo and have minimal scars to show for it. The weather was great and we only got a little rain the last day – where we were all too tired to give a shit anymore.

Benjamite and Swimmy couldn’t get enough of the pool – and we swam two times a day when we could. We tried the beach one morning before it got too hot, but the Little Dude couldn’t deal with the salt and sand. He did, however, try to eat the sand and that resulted in this picture:

Sand Tastes Bad!

The Swimmy just decided the beach was too “icky” and the waves were not at all acceptable as they kept making the sand move beneath her feet TOTALLY freaking her straight the hell out. But she did make the obligatory sand castle and that experience will hold her just fine for another year.

We went out to a few restaurants for dinners where an exhausted Benjamin had just about enough of the Going and Doing and decided he was just done. That resulted in this picture:

F*ck you, too!

But the best part of the weekend was spending time with my folks and the kids. It had been a long time since they spent any quality time with the kiddos because of my mom’s treatment, but this weekend did the trick. There was a lot of this:

Zayde Kisses

And this:

Dodi Hug

And even more of this.

Damn Tired

My Dad was the hero of the trip, not only for taking us all, but for contributing the Painkiller drink – the official cocktail of the British Virgin Islands. Wow. Way. Too. Good. Here is the recipe. Enjoy.

2, 3 or 4 oz of Pusser’s Rum

4 parts pineapple juice to one each of cream of coconut and orange juice

fresh grated nutmeg on top (optional)

I am proud to say I am still sporting my orange vacation toes and have a little bit of a tan. Woot! I’m not sure how I’m going to keep up my post-vacation glow as it is going to rain every damn day this week – but I am happy to report that Neutrogena’s Summer Glow Daily Moisturizer with SPF 20 is remarkable and not at all smelly.

The rest of the set is up at Flickr, but here are some other favorites to burn your retinas with the cuteness.

Benj. I’m thinking Gene Simmons separated at birth.
    Get that boy a guitar!
(and don’t freak out to much about the face paint)

Damn, that drink sounds tasty. I will definitely have to make that sometime.
Also, does Swimmy’s t-shirt in the first pic say “My whole life is being blogged?” That’s pretty darn cute.

Oh, so cute! And you rock the hat — vacation looks great on you. The grandma shots are especially touching for our family. All the best!

I am particularly happy to see the Grandma shots. Considering how things almost went with her, its so great to see your kids getting to know her. Love the vacation pics…. love the hat !!… love that drink !!!
