Hanukah: The Aftermath

December 18, 2006

There is a better post coming, but in the meantime, help me out with something.

The Swimmy is at the age where she is starting to like all the cool musical movies. So, for her Hanukah wishlist, I put the following DVDs on it:

Wizard of Oz

Music Man

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder version, not the new creepy one)

My Fair Lady

Well, she got 3 copies of each movie and now I am off to figure out where to exchange the extra copies for other movies to add to the collection. Here are a few others I want to get:

Sound of Music

Grease (but not ‘til she’s older)

But, what others would you add?

Ooh, definitely Annie (the Carol Burnett version of course)!
    What about Mary Poppins?

  2. Amy Says:

Definitely Annie and Sound of Music. Fiddler on the Roof has lots of singable songs too. And Grease 2’s story isn’t great, but it’s got some catchy songs.

Haha… I just came back to suggest Mary Poppins too! That was one of my favorite movies when I was about 6.

Don’t forget about Meet Me in St. Louis with Judy Garland or Oklahoma! My 2 favs!

The Original “Yours, Mine and Ours
    Singing In The Rain
    Funny Face
    The Little Colonel
    Annie – Carol Burnett version
    Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang

So I guess Spinal Tap is out?

Echo “Singin’ in the Rain” — very fun, my favorite musical ever. “The King and I” — another safe choice.
Mel Brooks’ oeuvre is probably not yet age-appropriate, I suppose.
Also worth considering: “West Side Story” — might be a bit too much at this age, also.
