It’s Go Time. Maybe. You decide.

Today was my 36 week check up. Dr. Hotness was out of town, so I got to see one of his very capable associates, Dr. Straightforwardchick.

36 weeks is when the “internal exams” start back up again. Joyous. Nothing like having a hand shoved up you – especially when you can no longer see the area the shoving is taking place.

Which brings me to my next point. How in G-d’s name are you supposed to pee in a cup when you can’t find a line of sight to the stream?

I’m just sayin’.

So…blah, blah, blah…no problems…. He’s about 6 ½ pounds right now… Man his head is low… no dialating yet (yay)… well, he’s done cooking, so any time you go into labor now is just fine.

Wait, what was that last part? He’s done? As in He can get the hell out of there with no repercussions?

Hmmm… In my head I distinctly heard, “Gentlemen, start your engines!” and I am seriously considering moving the end of this little biological adventure up a week.

Part of my concern is the 6 ½ pounds issue. If he gains an ounce a day, and I’ve got 15 days to go—this is no small kiddo. And I’m selfishly thinking of le incision that will be required to get a big kid out – or, more appropriate, my recovery. I am not built for an 8 pound baby, folks. Nor is my pain threshold.

So, I put it to you nice, smart, pretty folks. Would you make the call and move the date up a week? I’m calling Dr. Hotness tomorrow to have this discussion and I’d really like to make the following statement, “Well, the InternetPeeps think I should…”

He’d totally dig that.

I don’t know a damn thing about pregnancy, but I say move up the date! You get to see your baby sooner, and there will be less pain. Go for it! (Plus, selfishly I’d like to see some baby pictures.)

I totally vote for “pop that baby out like the ripe melon that he is” (if that is an option, that is.)
Who needs to carry around useless baggage? And never want an overcooked bird on your hands!

I went in for my 34 week check up and never came home until a week later! I was a quart low on amnio fluid. I finally came home with a 4lb baby and husband with a case of shingles. Good times.
I say let him come out when he’s good and ready.

Bigger babies sleep better. My baby was 6.2 pounds, and needed to eat every hour and a half at first. So do you want sleep later or less pain now? I would stick it out. Get an epidural.
